Apr, 2002 : Quest, Radware Integrate Management and Switching

📅 - Radware (radware.com), a leader in intelligent application switching, and Quest Software Inc. (quest.com) announced on Tuesday that the companies have forged a strategic alliance.

The purpose of the agreement, say the companies, is to integrate Quest's performance and availability products, Foglight and SharePlex for Oracle with Radware's local and global IP application switching device, Web Server Director (WSD), in an effort to better deliver proactive traffic and application management.
Quest's SharePlex, says the company, is designed to maintain continuous data availability in the case of an outage, using high-speed Oracle database replication. The product will give Radware's WSD the ability to switch applicaion users over to a replica database, maintaining business continuity throughout the WSD application switching and load balancing processes.
Quest's Foglight, says the company, is an enterprise application monitor that tracks information within the entire technology stack, including Web servers, databases, application servers, operating systems, end users, network and disk space, to maintain to maintain optimal performance and integrity of the infrastructure. Integrating the product into Web Server Director, say the companies, will allow administrators to detect impending performance issues so they can be resolved before they affect users.
"Radware's intelligent application switching platforms are designed to provide high availability and responsiveness in our client's networks," says Arik Ziv, VP business development at Radware. "With Internet traffic continuing to grow on corporate and enterprise Web sites, Quest Software and Radware's product integration of the Web Server Director with Quest's SharePlex and Foglight is the intelligent solution for optimizing the availability of corporate infrastructures."
Combining software and hardware, say the companies, is a logical step in ensuring the integrity of the network, and the best way to deal with downtime situations is to prepare for them with disaster recovery solutions.
"This alliance combines best of breed solutions, including load balancing, issue detection and failover capabilities,? says Mike Coffman, director of alliances for Quest Software, ?and we believe the entire user experience will be enhanced by this solution."
