📅 - European data communications and hosting company KPNQwest (kpnqwest.com) announced on Friday that it has established contracts with UK-based service provider DNS Europe (dnseurope.net) and Yugoslavian Internet service provider EUNet Yugoslavia (eunet.yu) to provide a high bandwidth ATM/IP E3 line connection between KPNQwest's EuroRings network and the EUNet Yugoslavia PoP in Belgrade.
The connection, the first of its type to be established in Yugoslavia, will become the basis of a partnership agreement that will extend KPNQwest's IP network into Yugoslavia and enhance the European and global connectivity of EUNet Yugoslavia.
The ATM/IP E3 line, which has already been installed and tested by KPNQwest, runs between Belgrade and Vienna. It has a total capacity of 34 Mbit/s and delivers Yugoslavian data traffic directly onto the KPNQwest network. The EuroRings network, says KPNQwest, is capable of providing more than 100 Terabit/s of macro-capacity to meet explosive demands for high-speed communications.
The new Belgrade link, says KPNQwest, forms the basis of a partnership agreement between DNS Europe, EUNet Yugoslavia and KPNQwest. The partnership agreement will cover KPNQwest's full range of IP-based communications services, including IP transit, managed broadband, IP VPN, dedicated connect and ATM. The partnership includes a joint sales and marketing program.
"This unique partnership with KPNQwest will significantly enhance the performance and speed of Internet connection for all Yugoslavian Internet users, providing a gateway on the most advanced network in the world," said Mirjana Rosic, General Manager, EUNet Yugoslavia. "It also gives our national businesses access to a tried and tested set of IP and ATM services, with support at both a national and international level. In addition, this partnership will offer considerable international connection opportunities to our Government, the Banking institutions and large corporations throughout Yugoslavia."
