May, 2002 : Summus Selects Digex for Managed Hosting
📅 - Mobile communication solutions developer Summus Inc. (summus.com) announced on Tuesday that it has chosen managed hosting provider Digex (digex.com) to provide hosting for its BlueFuel network, including the exego application.
exego, says Summus, is the company's first mobile application that allows subscribers to exchange email, access and share digital images and send instant messages through their BREW-enabled mobile phones. exego is powered by BlueFuel, the company's architecture for mobile devices.
Summus says its products are currently being used in a diverse group of applications, including scanning underwater mines for the US Navy and capturing license plate images for EZPass.
"We are very excited to work with Summus on the distribution of their exego application," says John Callari, senior vice president of sales at Digex. "It is a powerful new idea that has the potential to be the next must-have application in wireless. The relationship is a good fit because our international presence mirrors Summus' expansion plans for exego and BlueFuel."
Summus says its selection of Digex is a crucial step in enabling the company to build a cost-effective network for the expansion of exego and BlueFuel. The company points to Digex's international presence and growth plans as complimentary to Summus's global rollout strategy. Digex's impressive market position and solid reputation were also key factors in the decision.
