Aug, 2002 : IBM, Equinix Team for Enterprise Web Service

📅 August 14, 2002 - Internet exchange service provider Equinix Inc. (Equinix.com) and service provider IBM (IBM.com) announced on Tuesday that IBM will use Equinix's Internet exchange services to support secure Web operations for US enterprises.

According to the terms of the multi-year agreement, Equinix will provide Internet exchange services for IBM Global Serviecs through its Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers. IBM uses the centers to support its own hosting customers.
The agreement extends IBM Global Service beyond the four IBX centers it currently operates in to include other centers as needed. The result, says IBM, is that enterprises in metropolitan areas around the US will have local access to IBM Global Services solutions.
"IBM Global Services provides the operational experience and e-business expertise that are integral to our customers' critical business processes, and we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of performance," says Kevin Gropp, vice president, IBM e-business Hosting Services. "Equinix is an important supplier to IBM and today's agreement further extends IBM's ability to provide our customers with the technology, infrastructure and managed services they demand."
