📅 - Research organization the Yankee Group (yankeegroup.com) announced on Wednesday that it has released a new report that the company says cuts through industry hype to find out what enterprise customers really think about managed services.
The Yankee Group says it interviewed IT and telecommunications managers, directors and CIOs to gather end-user views on the providers and the services being offered for its report titled "Managed Services: What the Enterprises Are Really Saying."
The report examines the customer's point of view on the benefits and potential pitfalls of managed services. The Yankee Group says managed services offer opportunities to both service providers and end users in light of the volatile economy and increasing complexity of network technology.
"In theory, managed services should be an answer to many of an enterprise's IT and communications problems, but the reality can be vastly different," says Sandra Palumbo, Yankee Group analyst and author of the Report. "When managed services work, they work very well, benefiting both customer and service provider. But when the solution breaks down, the result can be extremely painful to the end user and can permanently destroy the relationship between that customer and its managed service provider."
