HP Introduces Hot-Swappable Memory to ProLiant Server Line

📅 - HP (hp.com) introduced a new industry-standard ProLiant server that delivers technologies for an adaptive infrastructure, allowing customers to achieve virtual presence and control, increased levels of memory protection through new hot-add memory and a balanced, scalable architecture for optimal performance.

Offering customers leading performance without compromising availability and manageability, HP introduced the four-processor HP ProLiant ML570 server yesterday with hot-add memory capability, with engineering to support the next-generation Intel Xeon processor, code-named Gallatin.
The ability to hot-add means enterprise customers can add memory on-the-fly and support more users without bringing servers down -- no longer will enterprises and data centers need to schedule downtime to install more memory.
HP is the first industry-standard server vendor to offer hot-add memory support in collaboration with Microsoft through Windows .NET Server, the first operating system to support this functionality.
HP's new hot-add memory is a unique technology, and Windows NET Server 2003, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions will be the first operating systems to support this capability, said Bob Ellsworth, director for Windows Server Marketing, Microsoft Corp.
The combination of the HP ProLiant ML570 with hot-add memory and Windows NET Server 2003 will enable customers to dynamically expand their environments without service interruption.
For rapid deployment of multi-server environments, the optional ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack also is available to create an automated, unattended deployment environment for an enterprise or Web host's entire server infrastructure.
