Oct 29, 2002 : 1&1 Offers Hosted E-Commerce Shops
📅 - UK-based hosting provider 1&1 Internet Ltd. (OneAndOne.co.uk -> fasthosts.co.uk) announced on Tuesday that it has launched a line of cost effective and easy-to-use e-commerce shopping packages called 1&1 eShops.
1&1 says the eShops enable users to easily sell products online, offering large catalogue capacity and Web space. The "Developer" eShop package includes ready-to-run design templates, private skin capabilities, turnkey online credit card clearing and customer management tools.
According to 1&1, the packages provide a range of features designed to fulfill the business needs of customers ranging from beginning e-commerce operators to experienced retailers.
"A recent survey by The Guardian found that whilst 73 percent of small to medium sized companies held a website, only 15 percent accepted orders online," says Mark Beyer, marketing director at 1&1 Internet. "Without having an online ordering system, companies are limiting their sales opportunities and growth. There is a need for e-commerce solutions that will increase productivity and exploit the Internet as a sales channel. We believe 1&1's eShop packages provide small to medium companies with the ideal tools to do this."
Developed in-house by 1&1's research and development team, the eShops offering allows users to manage and tailor content online. The stand-alone eShops can be integrated into any Web site, wherever it is hosted. Shops are set up using simple online wizards for each area and requiring no additional software.
