The new members include Global Data Systems, Guardent and Logical Networks, Inc. and represent a variety of outsourced solutions, including managed IT services, security services and consulting services. "New members believe in the value of an industry wide common approach to delivering services to customers," says Megan Pulliam, president of the SSAC. "The continued growth of new members in the consortium shows that many kinds of services can benefit from the association's service management quality initiative (SMQI) program that promotes the adoption of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices as the framework for their service offerings and integration with the rest of the customers' IT operation. This best practice framework is quickly becoming the worldwide standard for quality service delivery."

📅 - C&W to Exit 12 American Data Centers - Communications company Cable & Wireless reportedly plans to shed 19 of its 42 data centers worldwide, including 12 in the US, as part of its efforts to restructure its global unit. The restructuring will eliminate 3,500 jobs in the unit, which includes Exodus and Digital Island. The company will limit its US business operations to focus on multinational enterprise and service providers. Cable & Wireless did not announce which data centers it would divest, but plans to withdraw in phases over a 12 month period.
