📅 December 4, 2002 - E-commerce storefront software developer Miva Corporation (Miva.com) announced on Tuesday that it has introduced a new payment gateway product called Miva Payment, along with the establishment of new distribution relationships with two Web hosting companies.

Miva Payment, says the company, simplifies the process of setting up and processing credit card payments on the Internet. The product integrates tightly with the Miva Merchant electronic storefront, offering merchants easy gateway registration, implementation and management from the Miva Merchant interface.
?Miva Payment nicely complements the growing Miva line of services and brings us a major step closer to our goal of leveraging our services products with marketing and financial offerings,? said Joe Austin, Miva CEO. ?All of our services are designed to make Miva Merchant users more successful. Along with the new product, Miva announced that Web hosting providers WebSiteSource (websitesource.com ) and WestHost (westhost.com ) have both chosen to include the company's Miva Merchant storefront software with all their standard hosting plans.
WebSiteSource will include the e-commerce platform in its hosting plans with no change to existing pricing. Even the company's $19.95 per month ?basic? account now features the Miva software. Before adding Miva Merchant to all its hosting accounts, WebSiteSource had offered the software only with its upper-end hosting plans. The company made the move, in part, based on the positive response from merchants that have used the software through their WebSiteSource accounts.
WestHost will include Miva Merchant for free with its entire selection of shared hosting packages, starting with its $7.95 per month ?Starter 1? plan. The company's high-end ?E-Commerce Pro 2? account includes the new Miva Merchant Pro bundle, which includes Miva Merchant with a year of software upgrade, a Miva merchant Limited Source kit containing non-compiled Miva Script format sources, a license to use the Miva Script Compiler for compiling derivative works and a Miva Service Club membership.

This marks the third consecutive appearance for New York Internet in the top ten, which was the tenth most reliable host last month. Meanwhile, WestHost has held the top position for the second month in a row.

The financial details of the cash and stock transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 1998 and based in Austin, Texas, Website Source and its subsidiary SpeedFox, which was founded in 2002, offer Linux-based shared hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, e-commerce and domain registration services. Website Source operates a Cisco-powered data center facility in Austin and manages over 200 servers, says the press release.
