📅 January 27, 2003 - Internet exchange service provider Equinix, Inc. (Equinix.com) announced on Monday that it has introduced its Equinix Backup & Recovery Service, offering guaranteed data protection for information-intensive enterprise operations.

According to Equinix, the new service adds to the company's existing business continuity services, which include physical security at its facilities, geographic diversity and network diversity within its individual facilities.
The company says the Backup & Recovery service is designed for enterprises seeking a comprehensive data protection solution without having to manage it at their own premises. Based on fault-tolerant high-availability architecture, managed and monitored by Equinix, the service guarantees the recovery data lost or corrupted due to human or program errors, system failures, viruses or sabotage. Data can be restored by Equinix staff, or through a Web portal.
