Jan 30, 2003 : Radware Releases SQL Slammer Protection
📅 - Radware (radware.com) this week announced the immediate availability of protection against the world's newest dangerous worm attack - the SQL Slammer.
Radware's "SynApps Application Security" module, available on all Radware Application Switching devices, recognizes and terminates malicious sessions, while providing optimization and acceleration of applications and services such as Web servers, application servers, DNS and email servers, security devices and ISP links.
"Radware is the only vendor in the market to provide real time intrusion prevention against more than 1000 application attacks and our protection against the SQL Slammer illustrates our speed, flexibility and continual focus on protecting our customers while safeguarding their application and resource security," said Amir Peles, Chief Technology Officer, Radware.
"By continuously monitoring all network traffic at Gigabit speeds, Radware's intrusion prevention detects and prevents malicious attacks in real time, immediately terminating suspicious sessions to completely protect enterprise operations from hacking."
On January 25, the SQL Slammer worm spread across North America, Asia and Europe, overwhelming network infrastructures by replicating quickly and aggressively sending out probes that overwhelmed many Internet data pipelines. The virus slowed Internet traffic, preventing users from accessing Web sites and affected several banks worldwide, as customers could not withdraw money from ATM machines.
