📅 - Google (google.com) announced Wednesday that it has acquired Applied Semantics (appliedsemantics.com), a California-based producer of software applications for the online advertising, domain name and enterprise information management markets.
According to company reports, Google anticipates that the acquisition of Applied Semantics will strengthen its search and advertising programs, especially in its fast-growing targeted advertising offerings. "Applied Semantics is a proven innovator in semantic text processing and online advertising," said Sergey Brin, Google's co-founder and president of technology. "This acquisition will enable Google to create new technologies that make online advertising more useful to users, publishers, and advertisers alike." Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Google operates google.com, arguably the world's leading search engine.
