May, 2003 : Net Access Reports Component Issue in NJ Facility

📅 - New Jersey-based Internet service provider Net Access Corporation (nac.net -> cologix.com) said Wednesday it experienced a ?component failure? in the UPS at its Site B colocation facility in Parsippany, New Jersey.

The incident occurred at 10:20 a.m. in the morning and triggered the fire alarms, causing the UPS unit to drop all power to Site B. In addition, some of the core switching equipment in the Parsippany location was affected by the UPS failure and power outage, forcing movement to a backup power system.
As a result of the fire alarms being set off, the entire facility was evacuated without incident and at 12:00 p.m. personnel were permitted to re-enter the facility.
Net Access Corporation confirmed that ?most services have been restored? in a statement posted on the company's Web site.
The company said that it is continuing to investigate the cause of the failure, which occurred without warning. Additional updates will be posted as information becomes available.
The power failure did not affect any customers located at the company's Newark, NJ location or services in any other states.
Net Access Corporation is an Internet service provider focused on the New York and New Jersey markets.
