Aug, 2003 : Port City Web Adds Windows 2003 Hosting, Opens IDC

📅 - Port City Web (portcityweb.com) LLC announced this week the addition of Microsoft (microsoft.com) Windows Server 2003 hosting to its current Linux and Windows 2000 Server offerings.

"Windows 2003 Server is the best hosting platform today - period. With its increased performance and security, and support for .Net applications, everyone from Web Developers to customers with static Web sites will benefit," said Erik Crago, president of Port City Web. "Even customers with ?basic? Web sites will benefit from increased uptime, faster loading times of pages, and increased security. With the overall cost savings associated with Windows 2003 Servers, we can pass those saving along to our customers."
The company said it is the first Portsmouth hosting provider to publicly offer Windows 2003 Server Web and application hosting.
"We?ve been testing Windows 2003 Server since Microsoft first made it available as a beta. And we?ve been using it in real-world hosting with some customers for over a month now," said Crago. "I would like to have all of our hosting customers on our new servers within the next 3 to 6 months."
The company also announced it has opened an additional data center facility to co-locate their servers in Nashua, New Hampshire.
"We thought it was the right thing to do, as a New Hampshire business, to move some of our servers to a hosting facility in our home State. We haven?t had any issues with our Boston data center, so we will not be changing things there right now, but we will be building out in Nashua going forward," said Crago.
Port City Web, LLC, is a Web solutions provider based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
