Sep 5, 2003 : IBM Announces New Server Offerings
📅 - IBM (ibm.com) announced today the availability of two new IBM eServer business continuity offerings: iSeries for Capacity Backup and iSeries for High Availability server. Both offerings are designed for medium-sized enterprise customers seeking backup and high-availability solutions to protect their business data.
The new iSeries for Capacity Backup offering is designed to meet the needs of customers seeking an off-site, disaster recovery server at an affordable price and the new iSeries for High Availability server is designed to meet the needs of customers seeking to minimize both planned and unplanned downtime events.
"Customers are telling us that their infrastructure must respond immediately to a server failure or unexpected spike in demand," said Cecelia Marrese, vice president of marketing, eServer iSeries at IBM. "Our new business continuity offerings provide customers with the peace of mind of knowing that they can turn on additional server capacity or move applications entirely to a standby server."
Each of the new server offerings is available as a specially configured i825, i870 or i890 server.
IBM eServer iSeries supports Linux, Java, Windows and ported UNIX applications.
