😠 WestHost Totally SUCKs & lies about what they give you with their Unlimited Business account (My Neighbor who worked for them signed me up 7 years ago, so I never read their terms of service & was never told I would get a refund). My website kept being shutdown due to resource limits reached & I would loose hours to days before the Killed the processes before my site was back up, loosing me customers & now that I switched to another Hosting company I don't have any problems & my site is running 36% better according to GtMetrix... I went from an F Rating of 17% with WestHost with many processes at 0% to an overall score of 47% (still not the best) with many process bumped up to 89% to 100% where they were 0% on WestHost. WestHost servers would take 10-15 seconds to load my 3.71mb page whereas my new Hosting (SiteGround) takes 2 seconds to load each page.

I started with WestHost in 2000. Yes 15 years ago. I have now moved all of my domains and my hosting account to another company after 15 years of doing business with Westhost. Constant and repetitive server issues leading to down time. Inconsistent and unhelpful customer service. A billing department that is unable/unwilling to handle changes promptly. None of these issues or problems were present before Westhost was purchased by the UK2Group in 2009. Prior to 2009 I actually referred at least 8 new clients to your company. I surely regret doing that now. Westhost has slowly devolved into a dead company walking over the past 5-7 years.

😠 bad service
email account delay sending emails for 24-36 hours periodically
when asked if there was a solution i was told the emails were delayed because another account was over taxing their servers
i was also told there was nothing they could do about it.

😠 Westhost is horrendous
Currently waiting for their genius admins to "rebuild" the servers, after a 27 hour outage - no natural disaster, no terrorism, just failed without any redundant backups to switch to.
This is roughly the 20th time in the last 18 months, the last time had a 48 hour down period.
Not a clue about internet marketing, or they wouldn't operate this way. Just a bunch of incompetent geeks who like to run machines and charge people for them.
No concern about helping American small businesses, by simply doing their job and keeping their little machines running.
Waste of breath, and the most horrendous ugly experience ever.

I began hosting with West Host in 2006 when I left StartLogic because of poor quality and customer service. The first couple of years with West Host were really great. Customer service and the uptime were awesome. Then West Host sold out and started sliding downhill. The customer service was the first to go and at the end when I went to move all of my accounts to another provider it became a total scam. They did everything they could to impede moving my 17 accounts to another provider and when it came to transferring my domain names the would do things like renew them early and say I had to pay them before they would release it. TOTAL SCAM! West Host has become the lowest level of customer service provider and a total scam company. These are my opinions based upon actual incidents with West Host!

😞 Technical support answers quickly but does not solve the main problem we have been having for quite a while now - Scripts are being disabled on many of our clients domains because WestHost apparently has so many other clients jammed on thier VPS Servers that the resources are over-used and the techs have to quickly disable scripts on random domains in order to keep the limited resources working on the over-sold and over crowded servers.
Another problem with WestHost is that even though their policy states that they are against Spamming they do nothing to stop mass emailings from going out from their servers and causing the legitimate clients to have their domains that are hosted on the same severs " Blacklisted " with SpamCop and other ISP's like AOL and Charter, Cox and a slew of others that refuse emails from innocent WestHost clients.
Very poorly managed and over-sold - We are moving our entire reselling business off of West Host and working diligently to move our [read more...]

😠 I was on automatic credit card payment. There was some kind of problem processing my credit card payment (even though it is current and valid) and they disabled my account.
I realized this on a Friday afternoon. I used the online system to pay but my account remains disabled.
I contacted customer service and they indicated that the billing department will not be in until Monday morning adn that nothing can be done. My web sites will remain down all weekend.
I am pissed!

😞 When I called inquiring about their service. I told them that I had a custom Miva script, and the rep said that it would all come set up with the necessary files to run miva. When I called their tech support they said that they don't provide support for custom scripting. They told me would have to upgrade to business pro plan. I can understand them not providing support for a custom script, but I wasn't asking for that was just asking for them to provide me with advertised tools be be able to run miva. Their tech phone support provides terrible support also. If you are researching hosting, be very warned about starting a hosting plan for this. They did not make any effort at all to keep me as a customer. All they would have had to have done is have one of their server admin put the necessary miva conf files in my cgi-bin and my script would have ran their. Now I am just running away, and you should also!!!

😠 Have a dedicated server and my sites are slower than they were sharring similiar a server with 20 other sites with similiar hardware. Have been down more in 6 months with Westhost than in 5 years with my last hosting compnay. We get no apologies, no warnings, and it is usually beyond thier control. I am moving, stay away from these guys...

😠 if you enjoy 12 hour outages and losing sales and adsense revenue then sign up with these folks. Don't prepay anything because there are no refunds. Very bad technicians in my opinion. Down at least one a month for at at least an hour..this last 12 hour stint was unacceptable. Steer clear.

😠 You will notice that the old reviews are positive. They used to be a great host, but in recent times have changed. My site speed has rapidly declined as they over sell their bandwidth. Every attempt to fix the issue was riddled with excuses and the worst thing is if you read their policies, NO REFUNDS. So even though their service has declined you don't get your money back! Stay clear of them and save yourself the time, money, and hassle!

😞 They used to be good. Then they messed up my account information after a beta upgrade--they claim I am using 152% of my allotted disk space, when I am only using around 50% (confirmed by a tech). I keep receiving emails that my site will soon not work if this continues. I submitted a help ticket, but instead of receiving any help, I got an email from a sales rep stating that I should solve my problem by upgrading to a more expensive plan. Then he marked my ticket as "resolved," even though nothing has been resolved, and I continue to get the warning e-mails. I am switching soon; I am so done with inferior customer support (or sales teams taking over tech support--what is that??).
