📜 About voxel.net

Voxel.net (Closed): A Once-Innovative Force in Hybrid Cloud and Managed Hosting

Voxel.net, founded in 1999, was a bold and forward-thinking infrastructure company that helped shape the early hybrid cloud and managed hosting space. Though it ceased operations a few years ago, Voxel earned a strong reputation by simplifying complex hosting deployments and offering highly customizable infrastructure with global reach and impressive uptime guarantees.

Forward-Looking from Day One
At a time when cloud hosting was still emerging, Voxel positioned itself as a technically proficient, customer-centric alternative to rigid enterprise hosting models. With a blend of dedicated hardware, virtual environments, and a content delivery network (VoxCAST), they enabled businesses to mix and scale infrastructure according to need—well before that became a norm.

Voxel’s customer base included everything from startups to large international enterprises, spanning sectors like media, advertising, and tech. What made Voxel notable was not just its service catalog, but its execution: low-friction provisioning, reliable uptime, and a genuine passion for infrastructure by a team that was deeply hands-on.

Distinctive Service Model
Voxel offered two tiers of service—BaseManaged and ProManaged:

BaseManaged gave users raw infrastructure with 24/7 support, intended for developers and IT teams who preferred to build and manage their own environments.

ProManaged added high-level support including system administration, security management, migration assistance, and monitoring—making it appealing for businesses that needed a more consultative, worry-free experience.

Both levels promised 100% uptime SLAs, and their ProManaged plan reflected Voxel’s deep Linux expertise.

Infrastructure Flexibility
Voxel’s hybrid approach was a standout feature. Clients could combine:

Voxel VoxSERVERS (bare metal)

VoxCLOUD (on-demand cloud servers with API access)

VoxCAST (a built-in CDN for global content delivery)

This flexibility allowed businesses to deploy a combination of dedicated and burstable cloud resources, all accessible via Voxel's own provisioning API—a strong advantage at the time.

Global Presence
With infrastructure in New York, Amsterdam, and Singapore, and nearly 20 network points of presence under AS29791, Voxel enabled cost-efficient global delivery strategies. Their international CDN and IP backbone provided the kind of reach typically reserved for much larger providers.

Conclusion
Voxel.net ultimately closed after a strong run, but it left behind a legacy of technical rigor and customer-first design. For many businesses, it offered a level of customization and reliability that larger cloud providers were slow to adopt. While the market eventually shifted toward massive scale and automation, Voxel stood out for years by being adaptable, transparent, and deeply engaged—traits still sorely needed in today’s commoditized hosting space.

😉 I used their servers for 2 months and they provided real bad service,

I have sent them a question and they said they charge me for $150/hour to help me with that.

once I canceled my servers they told me that I have signed for one year contract and I have to pay cancellation fee!!!

Be careful!
