😁 Customer service has always been great.
Been with them since around 2000. Every time I've called or emailed over the years they have been quite helpful even if it was my screwup(usually was).

I just have to put my two cents' worth in because of the large number of negative reviews, which baffle me. I see that a lot of them are old, and many of them seem to be describing an ISP, not a web server host, and I suspect that more people post reviews out of anger than appreciation.
I have been with Tera-Byte for two different accounts for over ten years, and during that time have never had a single problem with customer service. They have always been helpful and respond quickly to my inquiries. Even when the problem was my own doing (long story) they worked with me for hours to get it all straightened out.
One reviewer complained that they didn't support Wordpress. Funny, I've been running a Wordpress site for more than five years now without a problem aside from the spaghetti code that is Wordpress. 😠 We used TeraBtye as our internet service provider and were completely dissatisfied as a result of the speed and the cost. In terms of cost, at year-end our bookkeeper identified they were billing us twice a month (the second time for going over our plan) and the cost were ridiculous. To make matters worse, we were not confident that they knew what they were doing. As soon as we could move we did. Our current service provider provides better quality service at a significantly lower cost.

😠 Web Hosting does not work well with Word press. I had created a word press web site on my computer and then just needed to transfer it live. They had no way of doing that. They installed a new word press program on my domain but were unable to give me any support or instruction about how to clone it and upload it.
After a week of frustration I phoned to cancel. It had been less than 30 days, but they don't give the 30 day satisfaction guarantee that most other hosts do. Avoid at all costs!

😠 The claim internet speed of 6 to 20mb/s. In the many years we have been with them we have never seen more that 1.1mb/s. Long before you reach your monthly limit they slow down hour service to well under 1mb/s. Most days the average speed is 0.8mb/s or slower. I have called them dozens of time over many years. They send someone out who always says that it should be better now and it never is. The first time there is any other competitor in our area we are gone!

I have hosted with this company for 7 years, and after requesting the cancellation of my account they failed to follow up on the close request and then billed me for another full year. They refuse to refund my money. DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER ... they will charge you and not refund your money if they make a mistake... heck they wont even acknowledge that they made a mistake.

I call in with a problem about slow internet/not working at all. they attribute it to slow bandwidh in the area. i mean it wont even load my email thats how bad. the list goes on and on.
ive wanted to shoot myself about a dozen times for being with them.
My bill exceeds $100 a month

Site is outdated, login/control panel is from 1992.

By the way, they aren't a registrar, they are the middle man.
If you forget your password or want to make changes to your domain, they ask for a $50 processing fee so you have to fax them and then they fax the registrar.
It is so backwards.
Oh and by the way, the representative on the phone was extremely rude, continued to raise his voice, saying "you are not listening, you don't understand DEAR"

😠 The owner, Steve, is who you get transfered to if you ask to speak to a supervisor. He says that he listens to all calls and reads all e-mails, but will then tell you that for $7 a year, you can't expect to get any kind of support. The owner actually said that to me today! I'm hositng over 20 sites through them through various member IDs (to seperate who pays for what within our companies). That's $140 a year JUST for redirection and an additional $9 a year per site for hosting. So for over $320 a year, I expect some help when I call in. They sent me to another site, which led me to another site, then another, then I ended up BACK at ter-byte. His employee, Matt, is also as rude as Steve is, but Steve doesn't really care. Again, because for only $7 a year, I'm WASTING HIS TIME BY CALLING IN FOR SUPPORT. There's an easy solution to this, move my $320+/year elsewhere.

They have no 'unlimited' plans, but had you read the fine-print of this unlimited stuff? I even proposed to some of the "top10" of this moment via online-chat to host a website using the current resources I am using with a shared 4U terabyte plan, and all them referred me to some sort of $1xx/month virtual server accounts, as my actual requirements surpassed his 'unlimited' shared server world.
So, do you want simply host without the unlimited (fine-printed) stuff? Go on with ye olde tera-byte!
About the customer support: Simply perfect. For me, plain and effective email and quick responses is enough.

😞 I have been with Tera-byte for almost a decade, with few problems on shared hosting an the last few years on a Virtual Server account. But as the software and hardware they use (which never seems to be upgraded) started to give me more issues, I really started to see how poor their service really is. They seem to have no interest in the fact that I have been with them so long and make no concessions to try and keep my business.
I'll be moving to a Media Temple Dedicated Virtual account. I know their Grid Service has been a nightmare, but their DV is decent. Pricey by most standards, but still cheaper than Tera-byte and double the storage, 10 times the bandwidth, more ram... and it sees feature updates.

😠 I was with this company for around 10 years. All in all the client/customer was a roll of of the dice ranging from fair to horrible. The last straw for me was when I was explaining to them that their policy of no phone support (and I mean, billing...trying to pay them) for their redirection service was a poor policy...especially for those hosting there as well, a MANAGER by the name of Derrick actually hung up on me. Done...I'm off to GoDaddy...much better support and they're willing to take my money happily.
