The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman, under the provisions of the Telecommunications Regulatory Law, has been assigned the task of regulating, allocating, and managing the addressing of domain names for internet access. In line with these responsibilities, the TRA has established the Domain Names Administration to oversee the registration of the top-level domains .om and .oman. The specific responsibilities of the Domain Names Administration include:

Establishing Rules and Guidelines: Creating and implementing rules, instructions, and guidelines for managing the .om and .oman domain names.

Registrar Approval and Listing: Approving registrants and publishing a list of their names on the TRA’s website or through other means.

Monitoring Compliance: Monitoring registrants to ensure they adhere to the established rules, instructions, and guidelines related to the domain names.

Publication of Registrar Termination Decisions: Publishing decisions to terminate the accreditation of registrars on the TRA’s website or by other methods.

Handling Grievances and Complaints: Deciding on grievances and complaints submitted by accredited registrars, registration holders, or interested parties concerning the application of the regulations. This is done while respecting the provisions of the Industrial Property Law and its executive regulations.

The TRA, through the Domain Names Administration, ensures that the management of .om and .oman domains is conducted in a structured and regulated manner, promoting fair access and compliance with the established standards.
