Scientific and Academic Computer Network - a national research institute (in brief: NASK) runs the main national .pl registry and enables the registration of .pl domain names and a number of functional and regional domains. Registration takes place through registrars who joined the Partnership Program created by NASK in December 2002.In July 2013, NASK took over the .gov.pl domain service from the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Registration of names in the .gov.pl domain is available only to entities authorized to do so and takes place directly at NASK.
NASK is an active member of the CENTR (Council of European National Top-Level Domain Registries) organization, closely cooperates with the organization coordinating the operation of the world Internet ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and the organization of the country code of the Names Supporting Organization. ICANN national registers.
In 2003, NASK was one of the first registers to provide a fully-automated Registry system based on a modified EPP protocol.
