*📜 Plan description
Entry shared hosting tier with unlimited (MAXIMUM) storage and bandwidth under fair use, unlimited websites, email accounts, MySQL databases, and addon/parked/sub domains. Includes free domain registration (credit equal to typical .COM rate), free website builders, Softaculous 1-click installers (WordPress and more), and 24/7 U.S.-based support. Price Lock Guarantee fixes your monthly rate for renewals at the same amount you pay today; lowest advertised rate applies on longer terms (e.g., 36-month). cPanel provides file/database/email/DNS management, metrics, and security tools; malware scanning, SSL, backups, SEO, and other add-ons are available from the account area. No setup fee; 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting (domain fees non-refundable). Recommended for personal sites, small business pages, and blogs seeking predictable renewals without upsell shocks.
All HostMetro shared plans advertise fixed renewal pricing via Price Lock Guarantee, free domain at signup (credit), unlimited site/email/database quotas within acceptable use, cPanel access, free website builders, 24/7 support via chat/email with phone hours, a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting, and a written 99.9% uptime commitment with service credit if unmet. Marketing terms “MAXIMUM” indicate large quotas with the ability to request more resources if usage thresholds are reached and terms are met.

📄 Editorial Review
HostMetro (active since 2003) is a small U.S. host built around a single, budget-friendly shared hosting line plus domain registration and a secure email add-on (MetroMail). Their "Metro Max Guarantee" bundles several customer-centric promises—30-day refund, price-lock renewals (no surprise hikes), "max features" (unmetered items on shared), and a focus on ease of use.Shared Hosting
Aimed at personal sites and small businesses that want a low monthly cost and familiar tooling. The Mega Max shared plan advertises a free domain, "maximum" disk/bandwidth, unlimited domain hosting, unlimited email accounts, and a 1-click script installer with a website builder. They also include free site migration (files, databases, scripts) from another provider. This is a straightforward, all-in-one entry point if you don’t need VPS/dedicated resources or advanced stack control.
Secure Email (MetroMail)
Sold separately for users who want branded mail without a full hosting account. You get unlimited secure email accounts, webmail, spam/virus filtering, and 10 GB total disk space, positioned around privacy (no ad scanning) and phishing/spoofing protection. Good fit for freelancers and small teams wanting a domain-based inbox with basic security.
Domain Services
Basic domain registration to pair with the shared plan, keeping billing and DNS under one roof.
Reality check: they do not offer VPS, reseller, or dedicated servers. If you expect to scale beyond shared hosting, you’ll need a different provider or a later migration. Recent signals (unchanged plans/prices since 2020, stale blog and social channels, and visible PHP configuration errors on some pages—including references to the deprecated mcrypt extension—even on the signup path) suggest operational stagnation and potential business risk.
HostMetro shows clear signs of stagnation in October 2025. The product lineup and pricing have remained unchanged since November 2020, suggesting a business that may be preparing for a sale or winding down operations.
Website & Technical Issues
Several pages—including the SIGNUP link—surface the error message "Mcrypt PHP extension required." This points to outdated PHP dependencies and misconfiguration, which is concerning for a production environment.
Content & Social Signals
Blog: Last entry dates to 2015, indicating a long dormancy.
LinkedIn: No official profile.
Social media: The most recent Facebook and Twitter posts are from January 1, 2024, reinforcing the impression of minimal ongoing activity.
Outlook & Buyer Caution
The combination of static offerings, visible PHP errors, and inactive communications suggests a company in prolonged sleep—potentially approaching closure or a transfer of ownership. Prospective customers should verify support responsiveness and service continuity before committing.

😁 hostmetro is great
While they weren't my cheapest option, hostmetro gives me pretty much everything i need for my website. I did have to pay extra for ssh access, but every host I researched charged for ssh access so this isn't that big of a deal. The support guys are quick to act and friendly, and they us cpanel which I am familiar with using from other hosts. I have been with 5 or 6 hosts over the years, and hostmetro so far has been the best. Website speed is fast and always responsive, and they have the best support I have encountered so far. They are alwasy ready to help out which is helpful for me.

😁 great host
Had to move my website to another host because of downtime and increase in price from previous host. Found host metro and had them transfer my website to their hosting. No downtime, good price, great support. Happy customer. Thank you host metro!

😁 good host
I am a beginner so I rely on their support to help me. They helped me upload my website and set up email addresses. They are always friendly and are able to walk me through doing everything that I need with my hosting. I waste a lot of their time calling with things that are probably easy for them, but they always make me feel comfortable calling. Never treat me like I'm bothering them.
