*📜 Plan description

RX220 builds on the same Arm-based platform as the RX170 but doubles the memory and local NVMe capacity, targeting larger data sets and denser workloads.
It uses an Ampere Altra Q80-30 CPU with 80 cores and 256 GB DDR4 ECC registered RAM, so you can run many containers or virtual machines in parallel and still leave headroom for in-memory caches or analytic workloads.
For storage, the server ships with 2 x 3.84 TB Datacenter NVMe SSD, giving roughly 7.68 TB of fast, local flash that can hold sizable databases, time-series data or large content libraries without external volumes.
The 1 Gbit/s port with guaranteed bandwidth and unmetered traffic is suitable for high-volume API traffic, SaaS platforms or busy edge services, and you can combine multiple RX220 nodes into clusters for horizontally scaled environments.
Like the RX170, the RX220 runs 64-bit Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, openSUSE and CentOS with full root access, can be deployed in Falkenstein (FSN 1) or Helsinki (HEL 1), includes one dedicated IPv4 address plus optional IPv6 /64 and is billed from 219.00 EUR per month with a 79.00 EUR setup fee or alternatively by the hour.

Across all dedicated root servers from Hetzner, the platform is built around unmetered traffic, a guaranteed 1 Gbit/s network port and a redundant backbone with a minimum network availability of 99.9%, so long-running services and traffic spikes remain stable.
Administration is handled through the in-house Robot control panel, which gives full root access controls such as power and reset actions, a rescue system for emergency boot, automatic OS installation, traffic graphs, reverse DNS management and vSwitch networking to link servers across data centers.
Standard security functions include a stateless firewall that filters connections at network edge and always-on DDoS protection, while you can optionally book extra IPv4 addresses, routed subnets, failover IPs, storage boxes and remote hands for complex setups.
All offers come without a minimum contract term, can be cancelled quickly and support either classic monthly rental or flexible hourly billing; invoices can be paid by bank transfer, credit card or PayPal and SEPA direct debit is available for Euro accounts in SEPA countries.
Together with 24/7 on-site technicians in the German and Finnish facilities, free phone and email support and a multi-homed backbone, these servers are positioned as infrastructure for production workloads, test environments and high-availability clusters alike.

📄 Editorial Review

Hetzner (founded 1997 by Martin Hetzner in Gunzenhausen, Germany) is one of Europe’s largest data-center operators, running hundreds of thousands of servers and delivering a broad lineup that spans Dedicated Hosting, Cloud Hosting, Shared Web Hosting, Colocation (racks), Storage Boxes, Domains, and SSL certificates. They pair consistent price-to-performance with 24/7 access to qualified data-center technicians and maintain their own high-tech facilities in Nuremberg, Falkenstein/Vogtland (Germany) and Helsinki (Finland), plus cloud/data-center locations in Ashburn, VA and Hillsboro, OR (USA) and Singapore.
Shared Hosting (Webhosting)

This is Hetzner’s entry point for classic websites and email. Plans bundle daily backups, SSL, DNS, PHP (5/7/8), MariaDB/PostgreSQL, and developer niceties like cron, Redis object cache, and one-click WordPress. It’s cost-efficient for blogs, portfolios, small business sites and even Webshop setups on higher tiers. Constraints exist on lower plans (e.g., some quotas and add-on fees for external domains), so heavier e-commerce or custom apps should pick larger tiers or move to Cloud/Dedicated when consistent CPU is required.
Cloud Hosting (Hetzner Cloud)

Cloud servers are on modern Intel/AMD (and Ampere Arm64 on newer lines) with fast NVMe and a rich IaaS feature set: Load Balancers, private Networks, stateful Firewalls, Volumes up to 10 TB, Snapshots/Backups, Floating IPs, and an API/CLI. Two pricing families are common: shared-vCPU for best price/performance on moderate workloads, and dedicated-vCPU for sustained CPU needs and low latency. This tier fits scalable web apps, Kubernetes, CI/CD runners, microservices, managed WordPress stacks, and data workloads that benefit from programmatic control. Hourly billing with a monthly cap makes it flexible; remember instances bill until deletion.
Dedicated Hosting (Root Servers)

Bare-metal with Intel or AMD CPUs and SATA/HDD/NVMe options. It’s the right choice when predictable performance, custom kernels, special storage layouts, or consistent high network throughput matter (game servers, busy databases, ML preprocessing, large ecommerce). Customers choose pre-configured models (e.g., AX41-NVMe) or customize. Compared with Cloud, you gain full hardware control and stable performance; you lose per-minute elasticity and must plan capacity ahead.
Colocation (Racks)

For teams that own hardware or need specific appliances, Hetzner provides 1/3 and full racks in ISO 27001:2022-certified parks (Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Helsinki). You bring the servers; they supply redundant power/UPS, cooling, connectivity to major exchanges, 24/7 access, and on-site technicians. Colocation is ideal when compliance, asset ownership, or bespoke architectures (e.g., proprietary storage, specialized accelerators) are non-negotiable, while still benefiting from carrier-grade facilities and renewable-energy operations.
Storage Boxes (Online Backup)

A simple, affordable off-site backup target with flexible access (FTP/SFTP/SCP/rsync, WebDAV/Samba) and Snapshot support. Use it for website/database backups, log archives, or user file sync. Capacity scales up or down without migrations. It pairs naturally with Shared, Cloud, or Dedicated environments to meet retention goals or off-host backup policies.
Internet Domains

Domain registration and management integrated with Hetzner’s DNS Console. This keeps DNS edits, hosting, and infrastructure under one account, reducing operational friction. It’s a convenience layer rather than a unique selling point, but valuable for teams that prefer a single vendor.
SSL Certificates

Commercial SSL options (e.g., Thawte SSL123; DigiCert as the CA partner) complement free certificates when brand recognition, warranty levels, or specific validation requirements matter. This suits stores, customer portals, or enterprises that standardize on paid certs for policy reasons.
Hetzner’s lineup covers the spectrum—from low-cost shared sites to API-driven cloud and bare-metal performance, plus colocation for full control. Shared is the budget starter; Cloud is the flexible workhorse with modern tooling; Dedicated is for deterministic performance; Colocation is for hardware owners; Storage Boxes solve backups cleanly; Domains/SSL round out the stack.
