📅 - Domain name registry Network Solutions (networksolutions.com👉 Total Reviews: 35 🙌 Average Rating: 1.6 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 3 👎 Bad Reviews: 32 👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Monday that it has introduced a new backorder service intended to give customers preferred access to expired and expiring .com and .net domain names.
The enhanced backorder service allows customers to place requests for currently registered domain names, giving them priority access to the name if the registration on the domain expires and the name becomes available. Network Solutions says it will charge no upfront fee to place a backorder, and customers will only pay if the backorder is successful. Network Solutions allows users to view a list of expiring domain names that may be backordered, adding "backorder" links to that list and to its WHOIS search results page. The backorder service was developed in partnership with SnapNames, using that company's patent-pending backorder technology. SnapNames' backorder runs on an auction platform that allows participation from all those who want to bid for an expired domain name. "With thousands of domain names expiring each day, this enhanced backorder service is a win-win proposition for those customers who let domain names expire and those customers who want to register them," said Champ Mitchell, chairman and CEO of Network Solutions. "With no upfront fee, customers can place as many backorders as they want. It's just another way we are helping our customers get the names they desire."
