📅 August 23, 2007 - Web hosting provider NetNation (netnation.com -> hostway.com) announced on Wednesday that it has launched DomainGuard.

The company says it is a domain name add-on that helps prevent the control of a domain name from falling into the wrong hands like would-be thieves, hijackers or domain speculators. NetNation says protecting a domain name once it's registered has become increasingly important with the general availability of domain names shrinking and DomainGuard acts as an additional layer of security requiring a unique password for access to critical settings.

DomainGuard protects domain from accidental or malicious changes to DNS settings, subdirectory changes, domain name aliases, WhoisProtector, Nameserver changes and domain authorization codes. Customers can purchase this application for $4.95 per domain per year.

NetNation is a subsidiary of Web hosting provider Hostway and says it is one of Canada's top ranked managed hosting providers.
