📅 November 2, 2004 - Email hosting provider Webmail.us (webmail.us) announced on Tuesday that it has introduced an open-source Webmail service that guarantees near uptime. Built on the company's third-generation platform, the improved service includes hosted email, an Outlook-style webmail interface, a choice of 100MB or 1GB email boxes, POP3, IMAP, dual-scanning virus protection and spam filtering, as well as other features.

📅 Nov 1, 2004 - English AL-Jazeera Site Suffers Outage - According to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), the English version of the Al-Jazeera Web site was offline for five hours yesterday, two days after it broadcast a video tape of Al Queda leader Osama Bin Laden. The Arab language version of the Web site was not affected. The English language version of Al-Jazeera's Web site was launched in March of 2003 soon after the start of the US invasion of Iraq. The site was reportedly attacked in its first week of operation by hackers unhappy over the site's publication of US soldiers killed in Iraq. 📅 Nov 1, 2004 - AT&T Data Center Sold to Investor - According to a report published Monday by the Orlando Sentinel, telecommunications carrier AT&T (att.com) has sold its data center located at 9701 S. John Parkway in Orlando, Florida to Jeffrey Burges, president of Burges Property Co. of San Diego, The 130,863 square foot facility was purchased for $10.5 million. Burges said in the report that AT&T sold the facility as part of its restructuring efforts. According to the report, Burges plans to market the facility as a "major information-processing complex" and is actively seeing to purchase other data center facilities.
