Mar 24, 2005 : Ourmedia Offers Free Hosting for Media
📅 - Newly launched hosting site Ourmedia.org (ourmedia.org) announced on Wednesday that it will enable artists, scholars and other creative people to share their digital works through a cost-effective and accessible outlet. "They are all kind of scattered, a lot on people's computers hidden away on the Web in faraway crevices," says J.D. Lasica, a veteran journalist who co-founded the project. "We thought it was important to gather a lot of this stuff under one roof." Ourmedia offers free hosting services for home movies, photos, cartoons, software and any other digital work; the only exceptions being porn and items that fall under someone else's copyright. More than a dozen volunteers across the globe will monitor the site.
