Mar 23, 2005 : NTT Unit Deploys Raritan IDC Switch

📅 -   IT infrastructure management equipment provider Raritan Computer (raritan.com) announced on Tuesday that NTT Neomeit Chugoku, an NTT (ntt.com) unit that builds telecommunications systems and provides IT services, had selected its Paragon II keyboard, video, mouse switch to manage servers and other IT infrastructure supporting NTT's new network service management service centers.
Raritan's Paragon switch provides full keyboard and mouse control of servers through direct out-of-band KVM connections, as well as over the Internet. Multiple users area able to simultaneously access servers and collaborate with each other.  Raritan says the switches can also be used for monitoring and streamlining the repair and recovery processes. NTT Neomeit Chugoku has tied its systems management software to the Paragon switch, enabling nearly instant alerts of server problems.  "Having remote access to equipment is critical for delivering high-availability services," says Katsuhiko Honda of NTT-ME. "Prior to adding Paragon switches, our IT staff had to leave the control room and walk to terminals inside the server room each time trouble was detected - taking up valuable time. The Paragon remote-access solution saves time and eliminates distances, enabling us to be more responsive and to deliver better service to our customers." Honda says another benefit is the simplicity with which the device can be set up, as it does not require any software installation.
