Apr, 2005 : Study Predicts European IDC Market Growth
📅 - Consulting firm BroadGroup (broad-group.com) has released a report predicting that European data center market revenues will more than double 2003 levels in 2007, reaching 745 million Euros.
The report, entitled Data Centres Europe and associated with the conference of the same name, says most of the companies surveyed had turned cash positive, with more than 33 percent reaching that level in 2004. The reports says the market is now entering a period of maturity, with new products and services shifting the data center business model away from basic colocation and Web hosting. Growth, the report says, has been fueled by growing customer bases, the provision of managed services, regulatory requirements in the financial sector and favorable investment conditions. The report also cited emerging European data center markets and identified important trends, including the shift to utility computing and dark fiber and services segmentation. It also predicts that future concerns will continue to center around power, security, infrastructure and connectivity. The report, available for purchase from broad-group.com, will be presented at the Data Centres Europe 2005 conference (datacentreseurope.com), to be held in London, England on April 28-29.
