📅 - Web hosting automation software developer SWsoft (swsoft.com) announced on Thursday that it had opened its new offices in the United Kingdom.
Rob Lovell, former CEO of Hostway UK, will head the office as managing director.
"I am excited to join SWsoft to help accelerate the company's momentum in the UK market and beyond," says Lovell.
The new UK office is SWsoft's third new international location this year. SWsoft China was opened in October and SWsoft Japan was opened in July.
"SWsoft is committed to delivering innovative, reliable, and cost effective solutions for hosting companies, registrars, ISPs and telcos," says Soeren von Varchmin, managing director of European and Asian operations for SWsoft. 📅 - Kazakhstan Shuts Down Comedian - Kazakhstan authorities, angered by his satirical portrayal of a sexist, racist Kazakh television reporter, have shut down the Web site of British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen. Cohen, who plays alter ego Borat in his "Da Ali G Show," used the character's Web site www.borat.kz last month to respond sarcastically to legal threats from the state's Foreign Ministry. The company says the new site, featuring enhanced usability and accessibility, is designed primarily for its professional and corporate customers. 📅 - TypePad Sites Inaccessible to Users - Reports released Friday by Internet research firm Netcraft (netcraft.com) said that users of Six Apart's (sixapart.com) TypePad blogging service have reported they are unable to access the management interfaces for their blogs, and that posts from the past few days have gone missing. While TypePad-hosted sites are visible, Six Apart says the TypePad blogging application is currently unavailable and describes the status of TypePad sites as "degraded." The script, written in php, is designed to stop spammers from using forms on the "contact us" pages of Web sites to send spam.
