👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Wednesday that it has extended its presence to include Miami, Dallas and Atlanta. The expanded PEER 1 network enables traffic to arrive at its destination faster than before and improves its performance worldwide.
"This growth is part of PEER 1's expansion plan that began in the fall of 2005 with the acquisition of Interland's dedicated hosting services," says Mark Teolis, PEER 1's VP of network and colocation. "Extending PEER 1's Internet network to these new data centers enhances the Internet performance for our customers. PEER 1 now has 18 points of presence and 15 data centers worldwide."
Connecting these additional cities to the PEER 1 network will ensure that the new facilities have the fastest possible connection to the two largest exchange points on the Internet - Equinix in Ashburn, Virginia and LINX in London, UK.
With the extension to the new cities, PEER 1 joins major peering access points including Equinix in Dallas and the NAP of the Americas in Miami. The majority of traffic from Central and South America enters North America at the NAP of the Americas point. The company also plans to extend the network into Fremont, California and San Antonio, Texas later this year.
