Equinix Opens Liquid Cooling Test Centers Across Five Cities
📅 - Equinix has opened liquid cooling test environments in five cities, giving enterprises a place to validate dense computing systems inside operating data centers before committing to larger deployments. The facilities span Frankfurt, London, Osaka, Paris and Sydney, with additional locations planned for 2027 as buyers confront the practical demands of installing and maintaining power-intensive AI hardware globally.
The program, called Equinix Enhanced Performance Innovation Centers, allows customers to trial liquid-cooled CPU and GPU platforms with hardware partners and Equinix engineers. Training and inference workloads are both in scope. The immediate value is less about demonstrating [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - Equinix Expands Colocation Role With Distributed AI Inference - Equinix will launch a distributed enterprise inference service with NVIDIA and Together AI in early 2027, placing open-model AI workloads across its global data center footprint. The move targets a growing enterprise problem: inference performance, cost, governance, and data location are colliding as companies move from AI experiments into production systems spanning clouds, networks, users, and jurisdictions.
The service, called Equinix Inference Exchange, combines NVIDIA Enterprise Reference Architectures with Together AI software supporting more than 200 open models, while Equinix provides the physical infrastructure, cooling, operations, and network fabric. The architecture can [...]
📅 - Diraq Brings Silicon Quantum System Into Equinix Data Center - Diraq is taking its silicon spin quantum hardware out of the lab and into commercial data center space, with an eight qubit system due to be installed at an Equinix facility in Sydney in October. The immediate computing value is modest. The more consequential test is whether quantum hardware can operate inside infrastructure enterprises already understand and buy. For infrastructure buyers, the important number is arguably not eight qubits. It is less than 20 kilowatts. Diraq says the complete system, including cryogenic cooling and control electronics, can sit inside an existing Equinix facility beside conventional servers with minimal integration work. That begins to address a persistent [...]
📅 - Equinix Adds $50M for Data Center Workforce Programs - Equinix is committing another $50 million to its corporate foundation, doubling the data center operator's total funding since the nonprofit launched in 2022. The money will support internet access, digital skills and technical workforce programs across global markets, as Equinix tries to address a growing tension: infrastructure expansion is outpacing the communities and labor pipelines around it.
The commitment is philanthropic, not data center capex. Still, it lands close to a commercial problem for Equinix and the broader infrastructure sector. Operators are building facilities that require electricians, critical facilities technicians, network specialists and operations staff in [...]
📅 - Global Colocation Capacity Seen Tripling to 213GW by 2031 - Structure Research estimates global colocation capacity will more than triple from 63.8GW in 2026 to 213.1GW by 2031, while sector revenue rises from $151.9 billion to $458.7 billion. Its new market ranking also shows a less orderly industry underneath that expansion, as AI demand, hyperscale self-build, power shortages and connectivity increasingly separate scale from maturity across markets.
The projections, contained in Structure Research's 2026 Global Data Centre Colocation & Interconnection Report, suggest an industry adding roughly 149GW of operational critical IT capacity within five years. That is an enormous amount of infrastructure. It also risks obscuring how unevenly the [...]
📅 - Equinix Expands Security Portfolio With Netskope Zero Trust - Equinix has added Netskope Private Access to its Network Edge marketplace, letting enterprises deploy the zero trust access service as a virtual network function close to existing interconnection points. The integration targets companies trying to reduce VPN appliances and traffic detours, although it also gives network teams another software dependency to operate across complicated hybrid infrastructure estates.
The service was made generally available with Equinix Network Edge release 2026.7 on July 15, although Equinix highlighted the availability again in an August 19 community update. Netskope Private Access can now be deployed alongside other virtual routers, firewalls and network [...]
