OVHcloud Warns AI Boom Could Drive Server Prices Up by 87%
📅 - OVHcloud is preparing server price increases of up to 87% as surging memory and storage costs feed through Europe's cloud infrastructure market, with CEO Octave Klaba blaming AI-driven hyperscale procurement for distorting component prices and forcing the French provider to reprice new bare-metal systems while increasing some existing contracts when customers next renew them from October onward.
The immediate problem for customers is not GPUs. It is everything around them. Klaba says OVHcloud's memory costs had risen sixfold by June 2026 and ninefold by September, with the company expecting a twelvefold increase by the following year.
