Jul, 2026 : AI-Native Startups Reach Unicorn Status In Half The Time
📅 - Amazon Web Services says AI native startups are reaching billion dollar valuations in 3.5 years, roughly twice as fast as pre generative AI peers, according to a new global study of 3,400 founders and senior leaders. The numbers are striking. They also arrive from a cloud provider with every reason to make AI company formation look cheaper to investors today.
The report, titled Engines of Growth, tries to separate startups that merely use AI from companies built around it from the first line of code. AWS defines the group as companies under five years old with AI at the center of the product, not just in customer support, analytics, or engineering workflows. That is a useful boundary. [...][... 📅 - AWS Adds 2M NVIDIA GPUs as AI Data Center Demand Accelerates - NVIDIA's latest earnings and AWS's plan to deploy two million additional GPUs sharpen the infrastructure story for hosting providers, data center operators and cloud buyers. Demand is still surging, but the next bottlenecks are less about chips alone and more about power, cooling, networking, land, capital intensity and whether hyperscalers can keep expensive AI capacity economically utilized.
NVIDIA reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, with Data Center revenue reaching $89 billion. That was 117% higher than a year earlier. The company expects third-quarter revenue of roughly $108 billion, excluding Data Center compute revenue from [...]
📅 - AWS Acquires DuckLabs Without Buying Open-Source DuckDB - Amazon has agreed to acquire Amsterdam-based DuckLabs, bringing the core engineering team behind DuckDB into AWS while leaving the open-source database outside the transaction. The deal gives Amazon direct access to the developers steering one of analytics' fastest-growing projects, without ownership of the code, license or nonprofit foundation that governs its future technical direction and governance model.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Amazon said the transaction is expected to close shortly, subject to customary conditions, while DuckLabs said it expects to become an AWS subsidiary in early September. Co-founders Hannes Mühleisen and Mark Raasveldt will remain in Amsterdam and [...]
📅 - Fortinet Acquires Virtue AI to Expand Enterprise AI Security - Fortinet has acquired AI security startup Virtue AI, adding runtime protection, automated validation, agent governance, red teaming, and multimodal guardrails to its security portfolio. The deal extends Fortinet's coverage beyond networks, endpoints, clouds, and applications into models, prompts, tools, and autonomous agents, as enterprises confront a widening AI attack surface and growing compliance pressure in production environments.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and Fortinet said the consideration is immaterial to its business. The strategic value is easier to see. Enterprise security architectures were built around users, applications, devices, traffic, and infrastructure. AI [...]
📅 - Iran Claims Missile Strike on AWS Bahrain Data Center Site - Iran's Revolutionary Guard says it has struck Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Bahrain with cruise missiles, claiming the attack destroyed a key data center supporting the company's regional cloud operations. The allegation, if independently confirmed, would mark another escalation in the expanding role of commercial digital infrastructure as a target during interstate conflict across the Middle East amid continuing hostilities.
Whether the AWS facility has actually been destroyed remains unclear. The claim originates from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which says the strike was retaliation for recent U.S. military action against the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear [...]
📅 - Gradium Raises Voice AI Funding to $100M With NVIDIA Support - Voice AI startup Gradium has expanded its financing to $100 million after bringing additional investors into its seed round, including NVIDIA. The fresh capital arrives as competition intensifies around speech models, with developers and enterprise software vendors increasingly treating voice as a core interface rather than a standalone application for future digital services and automation.
The financing says as much about where artificial intelligence investment is heading as it does about Gradium itself. Text generation has become crowded. Voice infrastructure remains comparatively open, especially for companies trying to build real-time conversational systems that can operate across [...]
