📅 - RJMetrics has a new owner. Magento Commerce, fresh from it's split from eBay, has purchased the cloud-based analytics platform, making the company the first in it's portfolio. The purchase cost is still undisclosed.
Magento Commerce CEO Mark Lavalle commented on the acquisition of RJMetrics in a recent blog post, explaining that RJMetrics will offer “significantly better reporting within the Magento Admin, as well as world-class analytics to drive better customer experiences.”

📅 - DNC Says Hackers Accessed Clinton Campaign Data - The Clinton presidential campaign confirmed that some of it's campaign data was accessed by hackers in the latest development of what security experts are calling a “broad operation by Russian operatives to infiltrate U.S. political organizations.”
In a quote released by a DNC spokesperson, Nick Merrill, the DNC held that “An analytics data program maintained by the DNC, and used by our campaign and a number of other entities, was accessed. . .Our campaign computer system has been under review by outside cyber security experts. To date, they have found no evidence that our internal systems have been compromised.”

📅 - Key Data Center Certification Achieved by Web Werks - Web Werks, a web hosting provider, has achieved a key data center certification for one of its data centers. The PCI DSS certification was achieved for the IBM-built Tier 4 data center found in Mumbai. This certification allows for companies to manage credit cards and collect credit card payment information.
Web Werks is headquartered in Mumbai, India with about 5,000 customers across the globe. The company was established in 1996 and has been one of the leading data center providers in India ever since. They offer services ranging from cloud to VPS to dedicated server hosting to colocation.

📅 - Synergy Research Says Cloud Providers Up 51 Percent in Q2 - Synergy Research Group data on Q2 was released Monday. Amazon Web Services reigns high with 30 percent of the Cloud Services Provider market. Although the other “big three” competitors IBM, Google, and Microsoft grew at a faster rate this past quarter, Amazon still captures more of the market than the others combined.
The entire Cloud Service market grew by 51 percent, demonstrating the wide open opportunities remaining for competing providers.

📅 - Changing your Password Frequently Doesn’t Keep you Safer - While we've all been told to change our passwords regularly and force our employees to do so, it doesn't keep you safer. According to the Federal Trade Commission chief technologist Lorrie Cranor, frequently changing your passwords regularly doesn't make you safer online. Cranor challenged the position on passwords and she won by using research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Carleton University.
Due to this new information both the US government and the FTC are slowly adapting. Some of the employees that used to change passwords regularly now have no need to do so.

📅 - Leadership Team for GoDaddy Gains a New CFO - Recently, GoDaddy announced Ray Winborne as the chief financial officer. Former CFO, Scott Wagner has been promoted to President and COO of GoDaddy.
Winborne was the CFO of First Data in Atlanta and part of the senior financial leadership team at AT&T and Delta Airlines before joining GoDaddy.
Wagner will be responsible for the customer growth operations and revenue of GoDaddy and had held the dual role of COO/CFO since 2013. Both Winborne and Wagner will report to Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy.
