Mar 16, 2010 : HostV Deploys Ksplice Uptrack

📅 - Enables server administrators to apply important Linux kernel security updates without rebooting the server.

HostV, a leader in managed Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated servers, today announced that it has completed deployment of Ksplice Uptrack, a subscription service that enables server administrators to apply important Linux kernel security updates without rebooting the server.

The company states that previously, it was required to reboot servers after applying Kernel updates, which are necessary for maintaining server security and stability. Although this downtime was minimal and most customers were not impacted by it, it nevertheless provided brief windows during which the server was unavailable. It avers that with Ksplice Uptrack, new Linux kernel updates are automatically converted into rebootless update packages. It can simply apply the update remotely without causing a disruption or significant performance hit on the server.

"As a company, we continue to strive to boost the reliability and capability of our services. Although we cannot control every possible variable, we constantly look for new ways to minimize downtime and prevent potential disruptions. Ksplice Uptrack has a proven record of reliability and provides an instantaneous boost in uptime. It's a big win for our company and our clients," said John Xie, President of Cirtex Corp., HostV parent company.

"We're delighted to work with HostV," said Waseem Daher, Chief Operating Officer, Ksplice Inc. "By adopting Ksplice Uptrack, HostV is in a better position to raise the bar and deliver even greater reliability to its customers."
