Feb 27, 2009 : AdventNet Updates Management Framework
📅 - OEM and IT management software developer AdventNet (adventnet.com) has released version 5 of its flagship Network Management framework, Web NMS (webnms.com), offering an enhanced persistence model and a powerful development toolkit, based on open development platform Eclipse (eclipse.org), and featuring a distributed architecture.
According to AdventNet's Friday announcement, Web NMS's performance and scalability has been significantly enhanced and the framework is positioned for even greater market growth.
"Web NMS has been the preferred NMS framework among OEMs for many years because of its very high developer productivity," AdventNet Web NMS product manager Prabhu Ramachandran said in a statement. "It accelerates EMS/NMS development without any trade-off in quality. With the built-in Eclipse plug-in and enhanced persistence framework, Web NMS 5 maximizes this productivity in delivering a highly scalable solution."
New features in Web NMS include support for JDK 1.6, Tomcat 5.5, Windows Vista, Linux ES 5.0 and My SQL 5. Web NMS 5 also includes a distributed poll engine, self monitoring capabilities, improved status poll framework, and integrated map view with events, alerts and customer tabs.
JDSU Communications test and measurement business segment director Steve Yocum said its service assurance solution, JDSU NetComplete, is a natural fit for the Web NMS 5. "Now its features have been integrated into our NetComplete Service Assurance OSS," Yocum said in a statement. "Several benefits include the cost-effective integration and customization of FCPS features into our own application software -- plus, the performance and scalability of Web NMS will complement NetComplete's exceptional ability to help ensure high quality of experience for advanced services such video, voice, and data over xDSL, FTTx, wireline, and wireless networks."
Web NMS 5 is available for trial download.
