Dec 16, 2008 : FatWire To Manage La Vanguardia.es

📅 - Major Spanish online publisher La Vanguardia Digital (lavanguardia.es) has chosen Web Experience Management solution provider FatWire Software (fatwire.com) to manage its .

According to its Monday announcement, FatWire will enable La Vanguardia.es to deliver a rich online experience to its more than 2.5 unique visitors per month and simplify its online management. Offering a broad spectrum of online information and services, La Vanguardia.es sought to replace its home-grown WCM solution with one that enables non-technical staff to quickly and easily add content.

To accomplish this goal, La Vanguardia.es adopted FatWire Satellite Server. With sophisticated caching architecture and enterprise-class-WCM-capable FatWire Content Server, La Vanguardia can access robust features for content authoring, site design, content publishing, web content analytics, targeted marketing and promotions, and dynamic delivery on an enterprise scale.

"We were at a critical point in the expansion of our website and needed a solution that could truly meet the needs of our growing web audience, and enabled us to react in an agile and efficient manner to their demands," La Vanguardia.es digital content director Ismael Nafria said in a statement. "We selected FatWire for its superior capabilities in managing web content, including the scalability needed to handle the large number of visitors to our website, and for its easy-to-use tools that will help us to meet or exceed the expectations of our online customers."

Headquartered just outside New York city, but with offices in 10 countries, FatWire serves more than 500 customers, helping them manage online content with ease and increase scalability by delivering dynamic web pages at top speeds.

"Capturing and holding the attention of customers is critical for publishers and the web has become a primary vehicle for success on that front," FatWire Southern Europe regional director Rocio Motilla said in a statement. "FatWire's solutions enable customers like La Vanguardia.es to better engage their clients with a web experience that builds loyalty, and increases the number of customers and visitors to their sites."

Perhaps best illustrating the danger of media sites not keeping up with the times is Pingdom's uptime survey of the world's top news websites. In July, the online presence of major, UK newspaper The Times (timesonline.co.uk) had the dishonor of being named the least reliable. While the print version has been around since 1785, the less reliable Times Online led news sites worldwide in downtime for the first half of 2008. Meanwhile, business magazine Forbes (forbes.com), which scored zero downtime, was the most reliable.
