Nov 24, 2008 : Equinix Appoints New CMO

📅 November 24, 2008 - Data center operator Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Monday it has appointed Jarrett Appleby its chief marketing officer, effective December 8.


This news follows Equinix's announcement a couple of weeks ago that Dow Jones' algorithmic and trading products will be available in Equinix's Chicago-1 International Business Exchange data center.

According to the company's most recent announcement, Appleby will be responsible for managing and expanding Equinix's data center services brand and building upon the company's global leadership position in the market.

As part of his responsibilities, Appleby will manage Equinix's global brand development, product and service portfolio, industry analysis and outreach, communications and vertical market development.

"As this year marks the 10th anniversary of Equinix, the company has never been better positioned to build upon our past successes in protecting and connecting the world's most valued information assets," says Steve Smith, president and CEO of Equinix. "Jarrett is a proven leader with a successful track record of building global brands and expanding markets, and he has vast insight into the complex demands of Equinix's diverse customer mix of telecommunications service providers, enterprises, content companies and systems integrators. His expertise will serve Equinix well as the company continues its worldwide expansion and solidifies its leadership position in providing a comprehensive global service offering."

Equinix says Appleby is a 25-year veteran of th telecommunications industry, most recently serving as chief strategy and marketing officer for Reliance Globalcom, where he re-branded the $1.6 billion company under a single, unified brand. Appleby also led the acquisition and integration of Vanco Group that expanded Globalcom's capabilities in more than 230 countries.

Prior to that, Appleby was the founder and CEO of ILV Group, a boutique consultancy for technology companies looking to accelerate growth with partnerships in hosting services, storage, managed services and application and content delivery services.

Equinix provides global data center services to global enterprises, content and financial companies, and network service providers. The company operates 41 International Business Exchange data centers across 18 markets in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

The past month has been a busy one for Equinix, as the company recently launched a new corporate brand initiative coinciding with its 10th anniversary and expanding global operations, and announced plans to build two new data centers in London and Singapore.
