Apr 7, 2008 : Vanderbilt Uses Aperture Solution


📅 - Vanderbilt University Medical Center (mc.vanderbilt.edu) announced on Monday that it has selected data center software provider Aperture's (aperture.com) VISTA 500 solution to increase visibility into the physical aspects of its data center operations.


In an initial phase, Aperture's VISTA 500 has been implemented across 12,000 square feet of Vanderbilt University Medical Center's data center operations.

"We are a world-class operation with data centers that support intensive research operations and patient data that is needed around the clock," says Lee Knight, data center facility engineer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. "We needed a data center service management solution that would allow us to optimize our operations, mitigate any risks within them, and enable us to be ready to meet the organization's requirements."

Aperture, which was recently acquired by electrical products manufacturer Emerson Electric Company, describes VISTA 500 as an "enterprise software solution that provides in-depth visibility into the physical status of data center equipment, space, power, cooling and overall capacity." Aperture adds that the software is currently used be more than 250 companies. 

Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt University Medical Center is home to Vanderbilt University Hospital, The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital.

The university facility provides medical education, research, and patient care in the Southeast and across the United States. It has been recognized by US News & World Report as offering among the nation's best specialty care with nine specialty programs ranking among the nation's top 50 of their respective fields.
