Jun, 2001 : Ebone to Offer Flexible Broadband Services
📅 - Ebone, a division of Global TeleSystems, Inc., announced that it will offer telecommunications carriers, service providers and media companies unprecedented flexibility and cost management capability when purchasing services over the Ebone network, Europe's largest broadband IP and optical service platform.
Ebone customers who sign up for the Liquid Bandwidth service will now have the flexibility to redesign or reconfigure their service package on a regular basis. This includes changes to geographic reach, bandwidth capacity, type of service and upgrades to any new services that Ebone offers.
"The supply-driven, 'any colour as long as it's black' mentality that has defined how broadband services have been provided to date is inefficient for both bandwidth consumers and suppliers. We are replacing this mentality with a demand-driven approach that gives customers greater control," said Duncan Lewis, president and chief operating officer of Ebone.
Mr Lewis added, "What makes this service possible is Ebone's superior network management and our critical mass of live network and customers. This allows us to dynamically manage changing customer demand without sacrificing efficiency. In discussions with our customers, we learned that they want far greater flexibility than they are seeing today and would that we manage the long-term risk of network acquisition for them."
Customers will need to meet minimum annual spend levels to quality for the Liquid Bandwidth service. Other than a re-configure fee and third party cancellation charges, customers will not have to pay additional charges each time they want to reconfigure their service or have their contract price 'marked-to-market'. Otherwise, they have access to all of the standard services and features that have made Ebone a multiple award winning service.
