📅 - In answer to a grassroots email campaign by more than 5,000 Linux users, memory upgrade supplier, and Micron division, Crucial.com offered 17Gb in server memory upgrades to Linux Online Inc. (linux.org), which bills itself as ?the first stop for Linux on the net.?
Crucial.com says the decision to provide the hardware for Linux Online's server was a response to requests received by the company from individuals who use Linux Online for things like Linux software upgrades. The site provides support for the Linux operating system and Linux-based applications.
And according to Crucial.com, the new memory upgrades will increase the site's server capacity and improve the service provided to its customers.
Crucial.com says it enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the Linux movement. ?This provided an opportunity to interact with members of the Linux community, an important customer segment for Crutial,? says Rafe VanDenBerg, marketing director for Crucial. ?Linux users are some of the most tech-savvy people around.
