Node Com Tracks Data Center, Disaster Recovery Facilities in NY


📅 - Node Com Inc. (nodecom.com) has made available itsresources and expertise to World Trade Center tenants and other New Yorkcompanies whose data centers or disaster recovery facilities were damaged inTuesday's terrorist attack.

With its public Web sites and proprietary databases, Princeton, N.J.-basedNode Com monitors space in more than 300 telecom hotels and 65 data centersnationwide, and tracks Web server co-location availability in 70 markets.The telecom services firm can also help companies locate generators andpower backup equipment through its CarrierHotels.com Web site.
"We are available to assist firms affected by this tragedy and help themquickly locate sites to house their data, servers and network equipment,"said Joseph Suppers Jr., president and CEO of Node Com. "New York isprobably the most challenging market in the country for companies needingsignificant amounts of data center space," said Suppers, a former corporatereal estate executive who worked at the World Trade Center prior to foundingNode Com. "We're here to help companies find creative solutions."
While millions of square feet of telecom facilities stand empty in othermarkets, space remains limited in New York. The city's major carrier hotelsare more than 90 percent leased, while national vacancy rates were recentlyestimated at 38.9 percent for carrier hotels and 55 percent for finishedco-location and Web hosting space.
