📅 September 19, 2001 - Asia Global Crossing (asiaglobalcrossing.com), a leading pan-Asian telecommunications service provider, today extended its secure customer premises-based virtual private network (CP-VPN) service toAustralia enabling Australian organizations to connect dispersed locationsand transform broadband connections into secure data networks.

Asia Global Crossing has joined with OpenReach (openreach.com), a providerof virtual private network services, to deliver the solution over itsglobal, high-performance IP network.
Under the terms of the agreement, Asia Global Crossing will bundle OpenReachmanaged services and technology as part of an overall secure data networkingsolution. The company says it is ideal for organizations which requireregional and global connectivity for securing telecommuters, suppliers,partners, branch offices and customer sites.
The CP-VPN solution is based on OpenReach's premises-based VPN technologyand is easily deployed via the download of hardened networking software. TheCP-VPN solution is meant to serve the needs of multinational enterprises inproviding simple VPN services, including: IPSec tunneling, public keyinfrastructure, firewall security, graphical management, monitoring andalerting, and reports. Requirements for off-net secure connectivity tosupport e-business intranets and extranets are also addressed.
IDC predicts that the worldwide market for IP-VPN services will grow fromUS$1.97 billion in 2000 to US$17.6 billion in 2004 as organizationsincreasingly become connected with partners and suppliers in secureend-to-end network solutions.
