Nov, 2001 : Loudcloud Launches Performance Testing Service

📅 November 8, 2001 - Loudcloud, Inc. (loudcloud.com -> hostinger.com) announced yesterday the launch of its Performance Testing service targeted at helping companiesprepare for sudden increases in Web site traffic due to seasonality or otherevents.

According to Nielsen/NetRatings nearly $10 billion will be spent online thisDecember as more than 100 million consumers are projected to shop over theWeb. The new Loudcloud Performance Testing service can help enable retailersto be ready to handle the increased traffic and provide top-notch customerservice during their busiest time of the year.
The unpredictable nature of the Internet causes many corporations toeither overspend on excess capacity or underestimate their Web siteinfrastructure needs.
Loudcloud Performance Testing service has two key components:
Testing - Loudcloud will test the customer's site using industry-leading tools such as Mercury Interactive Corp.'s LoadRunner to identify any weak links or problem areas. The results will be analyzed by Loudcloud engineers, who will make recommendations on how to tune the site for better performance or failure prevention. Then Loudcloud may either implement the changes or migrate a customer's site over to the complete suite of Web site management services.
Simulation - Loudcloud Research, which helps customers evaluate andtest Web infrastructure technologies, will create a scaled-down replica ofthe site inside its research and development lab. Then, customized testingcan be conducted and changes implemented without any impact on thecustomer's production site. Once the testing is complete, a customer canmake the changes to the production site or leverage Loudcloud's otherservices to implement the improvements.
