Apr 26, 2007 : Web Hosting Site Geek Certified Sold
📅 - Geek Certified (geekcertified.com), a Web hosting information site that had been up for sale via an online auction, was sold this week for $3,500 via an online auction on the SitePoint Marketplace.
The site, designed to provide Web hosts and their customers with an objective venue for resolving disputes and rating the customer service performance of hosting providers, was put up for sale earlier this month.
Geek Certified was launched in 2004, and currently has close to 500 certified hosts. The site's owner, DWC Network, said that it hadn't charged for membership, or pushed particularly hard for advertising, and could no longer afford to operate the site as a public service.
The winning bid was placed at 6:08 p.m. Monday, by a user known as "jimmifli."
