Jan, 2002 : SITA to Provide Lufthansa with Intranet Network
📅 - Lufthansa (lufthansa.com) has signed a three and a half- year agreement with SITA (sita.int) for the design, development and implementation of a fully managed global network infrastructure based on Internet Protocols. The contract, worth $40 million, will be handled by Lufthansa Systems and enables Lufthansa AG to provide access to business applications worldwide.
Connecting staff over 500 sites and across 99 countries, SITA's IntranetConnect solution will provide high speed access to all applications anddatabases operating across the network. In addition, Lufthansa's partnersand suppliers will be able to benefit from new services and applicationsoffered over the IP network, while planned differentiated class of servicewill simplify the prioritization of network traffic and optimize the trafficflow.

SITA provides IT solutions for the air transport industry in 220 countriesand territories. Its IP network solutions are also used by many other airtransport organizations including the Star Alliance.
