May, 2002 : CA Antivirus Now ICSA Certified for Solaris, Linux

📅 - Security services firm TruSecure Corporation said today that its independent ICSA Labs (icsalabs.com) division had completed the industry's first certification tests for anti-virus products designed for the Solaris and Linux operating environments.

The company said that eTrust Antivirus, an anti-virus solution developed by e-business software firm Computer Associates, was the first product to receive this certification.
The ICSA Labs certification program is an independent process that tests, assesses and validates the security of anti-virus products relied on by companies worldwide. In order to receive certification, eTrust Antivirus had to detect 100% of viruses on the current "In the Wild" list; detect 100% of the ICSA Labs' Common Infectors List, and detect 90% of known viruses not currently listed as "In the Wild" without causing any false alarms.
"E-business managers need to know that their entire critical infrastructure, data and processes are protected against the increasingly complex and insidious range of threatsthey face from emerging strains of malicious code," said Ian Hameroff, Computer Associates' Director of Anti-virus Solutions. "This ICSA Labs Certification is another important validation of the efficacy of CA's eTrust Antivirus in providing this essential protection for Linux-based and Solaris-based assets."
