May, 2002 : Speedera Networks Supports Vans Web Site
📅 - Content delivery service provider Speedera Networks Inc. (speedera.com) announced on Monday that sports and lifestyle company Vans Inc. (vans.com) has chosen Speedera's content delivery network (CDN) to improve the performance of its Web site for visitors and buyers.
Speedera says Vans.com has experienced a 16 percent increase in unique visitor traffic within 30 days of implementing the CDN, generating increased revenues and reduced download times. Speedera's regional network of edge servers stores Vans? product and event content at the Internet's edge to provide faster, more reliable responses to requests. Speedera says it intelligently routes each Web site request to the fastest, most available edge router on its global network for each download.
"Vans targets alternative-sports enthusiasts from skateboarders to BMX riders. Our sluggish Web site did not reflect the high performance that our brand promotes," says Jody Giles, VP and CIO at Vans Inc. "We chose Speedera because of its one-day implementation and because its cost/performance ratio couldn't be beat by competitors. Best of all, within the first month we noticed a direct impact on business results; traffic and revenues increased substantially."
Speedera says its CDN is one of the world's largest, with connectivity to over 1000 carrier backbones with points of presence in the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
"Speedera continues to exceed the expectations that companies place on content delivery," says Ajit Gupta, chief executive officer of Speedera Networks. "Working with Vans provides us the opportunity to align with a strong lifestyle brand retailer, while demonstrating the positive impact CDNs can have on the bottom line."
According to Speedera, the improved performance provided by its CDN allows Vans to continue managing its own infrastructure, saving the cost of outsourcing to a managed hosting provider.
