May 13, 2002 : Springboard Lands Two New Clients

📅 May 13, 2002 - North Carolina-based data center and Web hosting provider Springboard Managed Hosting (springboardhosting.com) said today it had signed a multi-year agreement with InsideWorld, a global Internet based provider of topical country and regional news, to provide the company with server management and security services.

Headquartered in Raleigh N.C., InsideWorld is a global aggregator of syndicated news content. InsideWorld subscribers receive free country or region news content daily, and the company also screens and selects marketing partners who stand out in their industry to provide subscribers with a roster of pre-qualified solutions providers.
The announcement is Springboard's second in two business days. On Friday, the company said it had signed an agreement with Invensys Powerware, the Raleigh-based subsidiary of international production technology and energy management group Invensys.
One of the US Government's largest suppliers of power protection systems and services, Powerware provides a full line of uninterruptible power systems, DC power systems, power management software, remote monitoring and turnkey services to companies around the world.
Springboard said it had been contracted to provide fully managed servers, enterprise backup, managed security and comprehensive round-the-clock monitoring and management of Powerware's newly created interactive virtual reality sales application.
"Powerware is a global player," said Springboard CEO Rich Lee. "Their products safeguard critical applications for the US government and thousands of corporations. And the fact that we are hosting their global online sales tool speaks volumes about our facility, our bandwidth and our people."

📅 May 14, 2002 - Standard & Poor's Remove WorldCom from S&P 500 - Standard & Poor's (standardandpoors.com) said late yesterday it had removed telecommunications firm WorldCom from its S&P 500 index. The global financial research and analysis firm said it was removing WorldCom due to a "lack of representation," a release from Standard & Poor's read. "Company additions to and deletions from an S&P equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company."
