May 14, 2002 : Keynote Systems Acquires NetMechanic

📅 May 14, 2002 - Internet performance management firm Keynote Systems (keynote.com) said today it had purchased NetMechanic, a privately held provider of testing services used by webmasters and companies to test and monitor their Web sites. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Keynote, NetMechanic will join the company's Red Alert division based in Plano, Texas. Red Alert provides accessibility monitoring and real time alert services for Internet devices, URLs and transactions.
"With this acquisition Keynote now provides a complete suite of cost-effective content testing and availability monitoring services for the small to medium size business market," the company said in a release.
NetMechanic currently has approximately 19,000 individual subscribers to its services worldwide. Some of the tools NetMechanic provides include site optimization, search engine submission and 24/7 Web site monitoring. The company's Web site currently receives 1.9 million page views each month from 500,000 visitors.
"The NetMechanic name is a brand well known to thousands of professional webmasters," said Umang Gupta, Chairman and CEO of Keynote. "Our acquisition of NetMechanic shows that even as we move into the enterprise with our cutting-edge and technically sophisticated benchmarking, testing and application performance management (APM) solutions, we are not ignoring the needs of small to medium size business sites."
Keynote's services allow corporate enterprises to benchmark, diagnose and manage their e-business applications. The company provides services for more than 2,400 corporate IT departments.

📅 May 15, 2002 - Interliant Obtains $7.5 Million Loan for Operations - Managed infrastructure services firm Interliant, Inc. (interliant.com) said today it has secured a working loan of $7.5 million from Silicon Valley Bank, a California chartered bank with principal offices in Santa Clara, California. The underlying loan agreement has a term of one year and provides for interest at prime plus two percent on amounts borrowed. The loan is collateralized by a first-priority security interest in the company's personal property. As part of this transaction, Interliant also issued to Silicon Valley Bank a warrant to purchase 1.2 million shares of its common stock at $0.30 per share.
